Hot stone massage therapy dates back to over 3000 years ago in ancient India and China. Smooth heated basalt stones are used to massage the body as an extension of the therapists hands, stones are also laid on areas of the body and in between toes whilst massaging on other areas.  Basalt stones come from valcanic rock and are able to hold heat effectively, these stones are energised and cleansed before each massage treatment.  Every stroke of the warm, healing basalt stones are worth five of the hand thus inducing a state of deep relaxation to promote healing in a physical, mental and spiritual level.

Cold stones can also be used to aid healing and this therapy is known as "Geothermotherapy".  Crystals can be used during the treatment to help balance the body's chakras.

Benefits include:

  • Capillaries respond to heat by dilating, therefore the skin & muscle tissue will receive fresh oxygen and nutrients.  This will result in waste products such as lactic acid and carbon dioxide being expelled which may have caused stiffness and discomfort within the muscles.
  • Stimulation of the lymphatic circulation will help detoxify the body and also treat oedema (fluid retention)
  • Easing of stiffness and tension in muscles by relaxing the muscle tissue.
  • It induces feelings of relaxation and helps to de-stress

Benefits of Geothermotherapy include:

  • Helps redice inflammation
  • Decrease in tissue temperature can help to reduce pain and muscle spasm
  • Speeds up recovery from soft tissue trauma, such as muscle injury, by reducing inflammation.

Reflexology                                              Click Here for Treatment Prices

Reflexology has become a a popular alternative therapy in recent years. It has been around for 4000 years and was first used in the middle and eastern continents and was introduced to the western world  during the early 1900's. Reflexology is a therapy which involves using thumb and fingers to apply pressure to the feet and/or hands to reflex points which relate to organs, glands and systems of the body.  The feet can be thought of as mirroring the body so the organs glands etc. can be mapped onto the feet.

The left foot mirrors the left side of the body and the right foot reflects the right side of the body.  When a reflex is stimulated at one point it brings about a response in another area.

Whenever there is an imbalance or illness in the body, the corresponding area on the foot may be tender or painful and deposits can be found in these areas by the reflexologist.  Working over these areas with thumb and finger pressure techniques will help promote healing and restore energy flow and reduce symptoms.  Reflexology should not be used to replace medical care or practice but should be regarded as complimentary to it.

Recent scientific studies have been carried out on the effectiveness of reflexology as a treatment.

Working as a reflexologist over the years I have had positive results with various disorders such as : Sinus problems, IBS and digestive problems, constipation, M.E., Fybromyalgia, Palliative care, Stress, Fatigue, Insimnia, Sciatica, Back pain, Muscular aches, Arthritis, cramps, asthma and respitory proflems, reproductive problems, POS, Fertility.

Benefits include:

  • Helps release "endorphins" which are the body's mood lifting and pain relieving hormones from the brain and hypothalamus.
  • Helps clients to cope with their illness
  • Mental stress is reduced
  • Relax, harmonise and balances the body
  • Strengthens the entire body and supports the body in it's own healing process.

Reiki is a  method of healing that dates back to around 2500 years.  It is though that Reiki was originally practiced by Tibetan Buddist Monks.  Dr Mikao Usui rediscovered Reiki in the early 1900's and spent the rest of his life teaching others by using certain symbols to attune others so that they could also give Reiki to help other people.

The japanese word "Reiki" is pronounced "Ray Key" is translated "universal life force energy". Rei means universal and ki means life force energy.  Reiki involves the channelling of energy (life force) from the universal source that we are physically and spiritually part of, through the body and out of the hands to help accelerate the healing process.

Everybody has an energy life force running through them, when you become ill or stressed the energy pathways get blocked.  Reiki helps to unblock so that it runs more freely which in effect helps to balance and harmonise body mind and spirit.

During a Reiki session, you will remain fully clothes and enter into deep relaxation, you may experience a warm feeling or tingling sensation.

The treatment lasts approximately 1 hour.  It is advised to relax after the treatment and not to participate in any strenuous excercise.

Five principles of Reiki:

  1. Just for today do not worry
  2. Just for today do not anger
  3. honour your parents, teachers and elders
  4. earn your living honestly
  5. show gratitude to everything
